‘Seething’ Thomas Tuchel blasts Chelsea’s poor finishing in Everton draw
The Metro says Thomas Tuchel took aim at Chelsea’s wasteful finishing after his side dropped potentially crucial points in this season’s Premier League title race with a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Everton.
Rafa Benitez found himself under intense pressure ahead of Everton’s trip to Stamford Bridge after a run of just one win in 10 matches, but the visitors produced a spirited performance to frustrate an out-of-sorts Chelsea.
The Champions League holders had appeared on course for victory as Mason Mount kept his composure to score his fourth goal in as many league games in the 70th minute.
But the Toffees responded almost immediately through Jarrad Branthwaite, who latched onto Anthony Gordon’s free-kick and squeezed the ball past Edouard Mendy at the back-post to send the away end into raptures.
