New Covid rules that could be in place until March because of Omicron
The Metro says Covid self-isolation rules have been extended until March as fears build that the Omicron variant could be here to stay.
Under rules passed in the Commons last night, people who come into contact with a person who is infected with the new variant will have to stay at home for 10 days.
The new restrictions will apply to everyone regardless of vaccination status, a departure from the isolation regime in place to deal with the Delta and other previous variants.
It’s the latest sign the country is facing another winter dominated by the virus despite hopes of a far more normal Christmas.
