Today’s news summary – Paper Talk

Most of Monday’s papers report on COP26 as the Glasgow climate summit kicks off. The PM has lashed out at world leaders for failing to meet their commitments to halt the climate crisis.

Also featured on some front pages is the news of the train crash in Salisbury. Two trains collided in a tunnel, leaving many injured but remarkably there have not been any fatalities.

The i reports that leaders of the world’s richest countries have been accused of making “hollow” pledges over carbon emissions as COP26 begins.

The Sun reports Simon Cowell is stepping back from TV to spend more time with his family.

The United Nations has said the last seven years were the hottest on the record, with sea levels rising to a new high, the Daily Mirror reports.

Boris Johnson lashed out at world leaders yesterday for failing to make commitments to halt the climate emergency, according to The Independent.

The Guardian also reports a warning from Boris Johnson, saying the prime minister has said the COP26 climate summit is at risk of failure because countries are still not promising enough to restrict global temperature rises to below 1.5C.

Boris Johnson will today read the riot act to world leaders to “get real” about climate change, says the Daily Express.

Dozens of rail passengers have had a miraculous escape after two passenger trains collided in a tunnel, writes the Metro.
