George Alagiah taking break from BBC as cancer spreads ‘I’m determined to come back’
The Daily Express says the BBC journalist will be stepping down from his presenting duties, his agent confirmed on Monday, in order to deal with the diagnosis. George first announced his illness in 2014, and the cancer returned again in 2017. A statement released on behalf of the television presenter confirmed he was battling a “further spread” of the illness.
His agent said: “George Alagiah, presenter of BBC News At Six, Britain’s most watched news programme, is to take a break from studio duties to deal with a further spread of cancer.
“He was first diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in April 2014.
