Dave Chappelle’s comedy isn’t ‘transphobic’ – except to the Twitter police
The Telegraph says Activists want the comedian’s new show to be removed from Netflix. They misunderstand how comedy works, and its power to unite, not divide
For all our disagreements, the one thing we have in common is that we all happen to be alive at the same time: call this “existence privilege”. The dead, to whom we owe our lives, are not here to tell us what to do; we might have higher authorities or traditions for guidance, but it is up to us to get along. One function of humour, socially, is to make us feel less alone, more united in our failings.
