Prince Andrew’s court case and Charles’s donors prove the Royal Family has had its day
The i says the supreme novelist Hilary Mantel recently agreed with Bryan Appleyard of The Sunday Times that the Tudors were extremely intelligent. “Every member of that family is gifted,” she said. “What unites them is excellent brains… When you come to the Hanoverians, well, there’s a great deterioration there.”
Shame she didn’t give us her assessment of the braininess of the Windsors. Maybe because it’s obvious. From what I’ve seen, it seems that not many in that clan are gifted with real intellectual prowess. And so they walk into swampy scandals or get caught up in webs of deceit and decadence. They never learn.
