Paris bombings: Trial opens for attacks that scarred France, as War on Terror spilled onto streets of Europe

The i says France will be bracing itself on Wednesday as the trial opens of 20 people involved in the 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris, one of the worst atrocities to hit the continent after the War on Terror spilled onto the streets of Europe.

The trial inside the venerable Palais de Justice in central Paris will gather a huge number of survivors, witnesses, relatives, lawyers and journalists inside an enormous purpose-built, high-security courtroom.

The attacks on the evening of November 13, 2015, led to the deaths of 130 people at the Bataclan concert venue, the Stade de France football stadium, and at several bars and cafés in central Paris – as well as thousands of injuries.
