Greece wildfires: Tourist describes fleeing terrifying blazes on Evia which erupted ‘like a bomb’
The i says an Italian tourist holidaying in Greece has described how wildfires erupted “like a bomb”, with ash raining from the sky and leaving a taste of smoke in his mouth.
Manuel Mondellini was walking with his wife and three children along the pristine beaches of Agia Anna on the Greek island of Evia when they turned around to take a picture and saw gigantic plumes of smoke in the distance.
“It was very big, like a bomb,” Mr Mondellini told i.
