UK urged to help Afghanistan as humanitarian crisis engulfs country after military withdrawal
The i says Afghanistan faces a spiralling humanitarian crisis as western troops withdraw and the Taliban takes control of more of the country, leading political figures have warned as they lobby the UK Government to offer Kabul more support.
Britain has also been accused of letting down interpreters who helped the UK armed forces in Afghanistan but cannot always secure refuge as their lives come under threat.
David Miliband, the former Foreign Secretary who runs the International Rescue Committee charity in New York, warned that the military withdrawal would spark a wide-ranging crisis in Afghanistan.
