GCSE results day – Higher marks expected as Labour says 500k students to leave school without support
The Independent says pupils across the country are set to receive their GCSE results this morning, which are expected to contain a record number of top results.
Due to disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic, students were assessed by teachers rather than an official exam. Mock exams, coursework and mini-exams were used to determine pupils’ final grades.
Exam watchdog Ofqual has said this process was fair and enabled many samples of GCSE work to be assessed, which allowed students to show their greatest potential in a particularly challenging year.
