Youngest ever Team GB athlete Sky Brown, 13, wins skateboard bronze at Tokyo Olympics
The Mirror says: Sky Brown was crowned Team GB’s youngest ever summer Olympic medallist when she won bronze in the skateboarding at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The 13-year-old secured third place with a 56:47 in an incredible final run, which she produced under huge pressure after falling at her first two attempts.
Brown had qualified for the women’s park final with the best score from the heats – an impressive second-round 57.4 – on the hottest day of Tokyo 2020 so far, at 32C (89.6F) and 90 percent humidity.
In the final she sealed bronze behind Japanese pair Sakura Yosozumi, 19, and Kokona Hiraki, 12.
Hiraki is the youngest Olympic medallist in 85 years. Favourite Misugu Okamoto fell on her final run and missed out on the podium.
