‘Many thousands’ facing redundancy as furlough scheme tapers off
The i says thousands of people are facing the prospect of redundancy as the Government furlough scheme winds down, industry figures reveal.
Almost one in five firms have said they plan to let staff go as the furlough support tapers off and employers are left with increasing wage bills.
The policy changed on Sunday, 1 August, with employers now asked to contribute 20 per cent towards the wages of employees currently being subsidised by the state.
