Krystsina Tsimanouskaya: Belarus sprinter in police protection

The Times says an athlete from Belarus is under the protection of Japanese police after her coaches tried to force her to return home for publicly criticising them.

Krystsina Tsimanouskaya, 24, was due to run in the women’s 200m today and the 4x400m relay on Thursday. She claimed to have been taken to Haneda airport in Tokyo because of posts on Instagram accusing her coaches of “negligence”.

“I will not return to Belarus,” she said in remarks quoted by Reuters.
