Senior Home Office staff get pay rises of up to £20k
The Times says senior civil servants in the Home Office including the man in charge of borders received pay rises of up to £20,000 last year even though police officers have been hit with a pay freeze.
Frontline public sector workers will not receive a raise this year with the government blaming the economic effects of the pandemic.
Boris Johnson defended the pay freeze for police officers this week, saying the government was going through “a tough time financially”.
