Tokyo 2020 Olympics ‘bans its social media from showing taking the knee’ after Team GB gesture
The i says the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games has reportedly banned taking the knee from appearing on its social media channel.
Organisers are said to have made the decision on Tuesday in response to a decision by the Team GB women’s team, who took the knee before their opening match against Chile on Wednesday. The move follows the England football team who did the same at Euro 2020.
The image of both teams taking the knee beforehand was broadcast live on TV. The gesture was repeated by players from the United States, Sweden and New Zealand teams.
