UK and France strike deal to tackle migrant Channel crossings with increased beach patrols
The i says Britain and France have struck a deal to strengthen efforts to stop migrant Channel crossings as people smugglers look set to hit a record number of landings this year.
The Government has pledged a further €62.7m (about £54.2m) to the French authorities that will see a doubling of French patrol boats along the country’s northern coastline.
Home Secretary Priti Patel and French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin signed a renewed agreement just as the Commons debated the Government’s plans for immigration.
