Public flocks to parks and beaches as hottest day of the year recorded in England and Wales
The i says across the country people flocked to beaches, funfairs, and parks on Sunday, on what the Met Office confirmed was the hottest day of the year in England and Wales.
Temperatures hit 31.6C at Heathrow and 30.2C in Cardiff, experts said, beating the previous high of 30.3C recorded in Derbyshire, England, and 29C in Usk, Wales set on Saturday.
Large swathes of the UK are now officially experiencing a heatwave, it declared. The Met Office defines a heatwave as at least three consecutive days of high temperatures.
