Health experts urgent plea for public awareness as cancer cases linked to alcohol are revealed
The i says health experts have issued an urgent plea for greater public awareness of the cancer risk from alcohol as it is revealed more than 740,000 new cases worldwide last year were linked to drinking.
They have called for more Government intervention to reduce alcohol consumption and the resulting number of cancer cases.
“We urgently need to raise awareness about the link between alcohol consumption and cancer risk among policy makers and the general public”, said Harriet Rumgay, from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
