No deliverance for the 3.8 million left in the lurch as ‘freedom day’ approaches again
The i says we all know people who have withdrawn from “everyday” life in the past 17 months because of a serious illness, a chronic disease or a disability which leaves them especially at risk from Covid-19. Plenty haven’t been on the official shielding list – their doctor simply warned them about the threat to their health.
More than 3.8 million clinically extremely vulnerable people have been left hanging as we accelerate towards “freedom day” on 19 July. For many of them it won’t feel like freedom at all but the opposite.
