Mallorca’s green light threatened by Covid cases from beach parties
The Times says officials in Mallorca are investigating how 850 students on holiday to celebrate the end of exams caught Covid-19 at beach parties and a concert.
The British government declared the Balearic islands safe enough for its green list of travel zones last Thursday.
The Spanish students were on organised trips from June 12 to 17. They have reported infections back at home in eight different regions of Spain. The country’s slow vaccination programme means that almost none of those aged 17 to 21 have been inoculated.
