The Daily Express: Hospital A&E departments ‘overwhelmed’ by children with mild winter viruses
HOSPITALS across the UK have seen their A&E departments “overwhelmed” by children with mild symptoms
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) warned that emergency rooms across the country were seeing record numbers of young patients who did not present severe symptoms. Experts called on parents to only resort to A&E wards when their children are “seriously unwell”.
Dr Camilla Kingdon, president of the RCPCH, explained that fevers were often a common symptom in young children.
