    The Daily Telegraph leads with the warning the EU will start a trade war with Britain if Boris Johnson overrides the Brexit deal so British sausages can be sold in Northern Ireland shops.

    Brexit: Europe sausage trade war

    The vice president of the European Commission has written in the Telegraph warning that the EU will start a trade war with Britain if Boris Johnson overrides the Brexit deal so that British sausages can still be sold in Northern Irish shops. The UK has already acted unilaterally to extend grace periods on Irish Sea border checks for parcels and supermarket goods, and the Telegraph says it understands ministers are also considering doing it for chilled meats like sausages and mince. Any such action would enrage the EU, it adds.

    ‘Jabs are working’ as intensive care admissions slump

    The paper says Matt Hancock revealed only three people who had been double vaccinated were taken to hospital with the Delta variant, the paper quotes the health secretary as saying “the jabs are working”.

    The Telegraph says the Duchess of Sussex has released a children’s book inspired by the relationship between her husband and son.

    The Telegraph says much was made of Joe Biden’s Irish roots leading up to the 2020 election. His close ties with the country — family lineage on his father and mother’s side traces back to Ireland — were thought to be part of his strategy for rebuilding the ‘blue wall’ that had temporarily crumbled in the Rust Belt during the previous presidential election.

    British woman in coma following crocodile attack at popular lagoon in Mexico

    The Telegraph says a British woman is in a coma after being rescued from a crocodile attack by her twin sister near a popular surfing resort in Mexico.

    Melissa and Georgia Laurie, 28, were swimming by night in a lagoon 10 miles from the resort town of Puerto Escondido when the attack occurred, according to their family.
