Pupils to be offered 100m hours of tuition in Covid catch-up plan
After months of school closures and disruptions to education, the government has announced £1.4bn will be spent on up to 6m sets of 15-hour tutoring courses for disadvantaged pupils. There will also be an expansion of an existing fund for helping 16-to-19 olds with subjects such as English and Maths.
The extra £100m hours of tuition for the post-pandemic catch-up plans have already been met with criticism – as the government is warned “more will be needed.”
