India to receive 30 tons of medical supplies amid Covid-19 crisis

The Egyptian Minister of Health has announced that 30 tons of medical supplies have been sent to India to help support the country as it battles Covid-19. The move is a direct order of the Egyptian president.

The Ministry spokesman said the shipment included 300 oxygen cylinders, 20 ventilators, 100 medical beds, 20 electrocardiographs, 30 defibrillators, 50 infusion pumps, and 50 infusion syringes.

Adding the shipment would be sent in cooperation with the Egyptian Armed Forces.

Egypt has shown its keenness to help other countries in crisis. The country has previously sent medical and preventive aid to China and Italy, as well as Arab and African countries.

Almost 400,000 new infections were added on Sunday – bringing the total to over 19.5 million.

India is planning to inoculate 800 million residents aged 18 and over – as part of its new vaccination drive. But it hit a snag after only six of 29 states participated in the campaign due to a shortage of vaccines.
