Mitshibiti Motors denies fraud in German probe over illegal emissions defeat device
Arab News reports Mitsubishi Motors Corp. said on Thursday there was no reason to believe it had committed fraud as suspected in a German investigation into the Japanese automaker over illegal emissions defeating devices used in its diesel vehicles.
In a statement, Mitsubishi said that the 1.6-litre diesel engines were manufactured by France’s PSA Group.

US-Israeli woman freed by Russia after Putin pardon
France24 says Russia said on Thursday that a US-Israeli woman jailed for drug trafficking has been freed after Russian President Vladimir Putin pardoned her.
Putin’s pardon was issued on Wednesday evening ahead of a visit to Moscow by Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“Due to the presidential decree on pardoning, Naama Issachar has been freed from prison,” the prison service said in a statement.

British flight out of Wuhan unable to take off
BBC News says a flight carrying 200 British nationals from the coronavirus hit Wuhan was unable to take off as planned on Thursday.
It is understood relevant permissions from Chinese officials have not yet come through.
The Foreign Office said it was “working urgently” to organise a flight to the UK “as soon as possible.”
The flight was expected to arrive at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire on Thursday morning. Passengers were to be taken to an NHS facility.
When passengers do return home they will be put in “supported isolation” for 14 days with “all necessary medical attention”, a Downing Street spokesman said.

Pilots killed in Air Force plane crash in Afghanistan identified
Fox News says the names of the pilots of the crashed Bombardier E-11A electronic surveillance plane in Afghanistan were released on Wednesday.
They were identified as Lt. Col. Paul K. Voss, 46 of Yigo, Guam and Capt. Ryan S. Phaneuf, 30 of Hudson, New Hampshire.
“This is a tragic loss to the Air Force and our Ellsworth Family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the member’s family, friends and co-workers as we all come to terms with this tragedy,” said Col. David A. Doss, 28th Bomb Wing commander.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Officials say there is no indication the plane was downed by hostile action.

Sky News says Margot Robbie says she thinks men need to open themselves up to watching female-led movies.
The actor said: “I hope that guys watch films with female leads as much as they watch ones with male leads.
“Cause I watch films despite the gender of the protagonist and find a way to relate just on y’know human behaviour.
“I feel if more men watch female-driven content they’d find a way to relate as well.”
