Lampard under pressure as Foxes go top

Frank Lampard under pressure at the Chelsea after his team were comfortably beaten at Leicester, a fifth defeat in their past eight Premier League games. Which put the foxes back on top of the table.

Goals from Wilfred Ndidi and James Maddison secured a 2-0 win for the Foxes that sent them top of the table at the midway point in their season.

By contrast, Chelsea, who had started December top of the table, are now eighth.

Chelsea rarely troubled a Leicester side brimming with confidence as they won for the third game in a row.

The hosts could have won by a bigger margin if they had taken one of a number of chances they created while Chelsea’s big-money signings failed to make an impression.

Chelsea boss ‘worried’ after a fifth defeat in eight Premier League games

Chelsea are simply not gelling, after spending £200 million in the summer, they must deliver, but Frank is struggling with the team and in most parts, they are not doing the basics right.

“I am worried. From the form we were in to get so quickly into the form we’re in now, even with the Fulham win [on Saturday] and some other wins in there, we should be better than losing five in eight.

“It’s a young team. They won’t be feeling nice. I’m not against the lads in the dressing room. They will have learned a lesson.” Said, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard

Chelsea are not the kind of team that should lose 2-0 at Leicester, they have the squad that can comfortably come away with a draw, but it’s not quite clocking for Frank yet.

Brendon not getting carried away yet

Leicester fully deserves their place at the top of the Premier League after they delivered a performance of class and composure to win with ease.

The Foxes never looked like losing control once Ndidi put them ahead. They were in command at the back – with 20-year-old French defender Wesley Fofana magnificent – controlled midfield and could easily have won by more.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers, speaking to BBC Sport: “We played against a Chelsea team that is very talented and has outstanding players but we were very good and ran our socks off without the ball, which you have to do in these games.

“I was really pleased with how we closed the game. I felt in the second half our defensive block was much than in the first but we still carried a threat.”
