£5.4bn emergency cash to help NHS cope with Covid-19 pandemic – with £1bn to tackle huge backlog
The i says a £5.4 billion package of emergency cash has been released to help the NHS cope with the Covid-19 pandemic and tackle the mounting backlog.
The Government said the spending boost would help to support the NHS in England through the “immediate pressures” of the Covid-19 pandemic over the next six months.
It will also tackle the growing problem of millions of people waiting for routine operations and treatments such – which could soar to 13 million.
