Arsenal comeback stuns West Ham in 3-3 thriller – Premier League result

In what turned out to be an incredible Premier League match between West Ham and Arsenal, the London sides shared the points after West Ham couldn’t hold on to their 3-goal lead.

After goals from West Ham’s Jesse Lingard, Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek gave West Ham total control, an inspired Arsenal comeback was completed thanks to 2 own-goals and a Lacazette header.

Lingard stunner opened the scoring for West Ham

West Ham’s first goal in this Premier League fixture against Arsenal came after just 15 minutes thanks to a wonderful effort by Jesse Lingard.

West Ham’s Saïd Benrahma played the ball down the left wing to Michail Antonio, who drove forward at Arsenal’s David Luiz.

Antonio got to the edge of the box near the by-line, before cutting the ball back to the edge of the Arsenal box to the D.

Antonio’s pass found Lingard, whose touch allowed the ball to bounce up nicely for himself, where he then sliced a superb volley into the top right corner.

Quick West Ham free-kick caught Arsenal off-guard

West Ham then doubled their lead in this Premier League fixture against Arsenal just 98 seconds later.

After Bukayo Saka fouled Antonio just outside the box on the right corner, Arsenal fell asleep expecting West-Ham to bring defenders up for a set-piece opportunity.

However, Lingard took the free-kick quickly, exposing the sleeping Arsenal with a short through-ball to an open Jarrod Bowen.

Upon collection, Bowen drove towards the goal and finished it from close-range past the near-post – a shot that definitely should have been saved by Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno.

West Ham looked in complete control after Soucek goal

West Ham couldn’t believe their luck after scoring a third first-half goal in this Premier League fixture against Arsenal at minute 32.

Arsenal tried to play it out from the back, but Kieran Tierney’s pass inside was cut out by West Ham’s Declan Rice.

The ball was then sent down the right-wing to Bowen, whose cross was deflected back to Vladimir Coufal, who then tried a cross of his own.

This time, the cross found a leaping Antonio in the middle of Arsenal’s box. His header, which was heading down and wide, took a slight deflection off West Ham team-mate Tomas Soucek and nestled into the bottom right corner.

Soucek then scored unfortunate own-goal to give Arsenal hope

Five minutes after Soucek got a vital touch onto Antonio’s header for West Ham, he then deflected Alexandre Lacazette’s shot into his own net.

Arsenal right-back Calum Chambers received the ball on right-wing, where he fired his cross into the West Ham box towards the penalty spot.

The cross found Lacazette, who superbly controlled it, before spinning and smashing it towards goal.

However, the shot was heading wide until goal scorer Soucek got a slight deflection on the shot, guiding it into the roof of the West Ham net.

Arsenal had been applying heavy pressure onto West Ham after getting a goal back in this Premier League fixture.

West Ham wanted a free-kick on Bowen half-way inside their own half, but it was given the other way, with the free-kick being taken quickly by Lacazette.

The ball eventually found Chambers on the right-side of the box after a neat through-ball by Real Madrid loanee, Martin Ødegaard.

Chambers, who was given man of the match, drilled his cross across the face of West Ham’s goal, where Craig Dawson couldn’t help but smash the ball into his own net from close-range in the 61st minute.

Arsenal then completed comeback against West Ham

Arsenal’s hope of coming back was finally completed in the 81st minute thanks to a Lacazette header.

Ødegaard was at the heart of the attack once again, this time, after receiving the ball at the edge of the box, he played it through to Arsenal’s Nicolas Pépé.

Pépé then sent a fantastic cross into the box with his weaker foot from inside the right-hand side of the box near the by-line.

The ball flew to the back post, where Arsenal striker Lacazette had no problem heading the ball into the back of West Ham net from close-range.
