Partygate: Three more Tory MPs urge Boris Johnson to quit – how many now want him to resign?
Sky News says three Tory MPs have called on Boris Johnson to resign, bringing the number who have called on the prime minister to go in the wake of the partygate scandal to 27.
Prominent Brexiteer Andrew Bridgen became the 27th MP to join the calls, following one of the youngest MPs in the Conservative Party and the former culture secretary.
The MP for North West Leicestershire confirmed to his constituents he had submitted a letter of no confidence since Ms Gray published her report, making him the 27th Tory MP to call on the prime minister to resign.
“I did believe that during the initial stages of the Russia/Ukraine war that it would be wrong to have a leadership contest,” he said in a statement.
