    2023 Women’s World Cup: The Stadiums – Stadium Australia

    The Stadium Australia was built in 1999 to be the centrepiece of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. The stadium has undergone refurbishments since then and has hosted other major sporting events and has been used for concerts and other events.

    Stadium Australia will host Australia’s opening game this summer and then three knockout games, and the World Cup final.

    Stadium Australia is located within the Sydney Olympic Park precinct/suburb of Homebush, 17km from Sydney. Trains and Major Event Buses are located within 500m of Stadium Australia.

    FIFA World Cup 2023 fixtures

    Stadium Australia will host Australia’s opening game of the Women’s World Cup when the Matildas take on the Republic of Ireland in Group B. The stadium will then see three knockout games and the 2023 World Cup final will be played there, closing out what is set to be a thrilling summer of football. 

    The winner of Group B will take on the runners-up from Group D in the last 16 on 7 August, with the last of four quarter-finals set to follow five days later.

    The second semi-final will take place at the venue on 16 August to confirm both the final and third-place play-off fixtures ahead of the showpiece event on 20 August.

    General Information:

    Gates open 2 hours prior to Kick off (except from the Final on 20th August where gates open 2.5hours before kick off) and we encourage you to arrive early to enjoy activations in the stadium precinct and for smooth entry into your allocated seat.

    If you have a Hospitality ticket, you will enter through Gate Don the east side of the venue or on the west side of the venue. Staff will help navigate you to your hospitality space from there.

    Food and beverage options will be available in the precinct and can be purchased using card payment only.

    There will 3 merchandise stores outside the stadium, located near:

    • Car Park 1 (P1)- Near gates A, B & P
    • Pylon 4- Near Gates C & D
    • Pylon 5- Near Gates C & D

    There will also be merchandise outlets available in the stadium to kit yourself out and all merchandise stands will accept card payments only.

    The stadium has recently installed a new video board which is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere measuring 120m wide.
