2023 Women’s World Cup: The Stadiums – Dunedin Stadium
Dunedin Stadium is New Zealand’s only covered stadium. It’s held prestigious events in the past including matches at the FIFA U-20 World Cup. The 2023 World Cup marks the third World Cup the stadium will host, following on from te 2011 Rugby World Cup and the U-20 World Cup in 2015.
Away from sports, the stadium has hosted musicians such as Sir Elton John, Fleetwood Mac and Kendrick Lamar.
The Stadium is an innovative icon. It will host six group games at the upcoming Women’s World Cup.
Where is Dunedin Stadium?
The stadium is located in Dunedin North, close to the outflow of the Water of Leith into Otago Harbour (and directly over the outflow of Opoho Stream). Its site is close to several other major sports venues.

FIFA World Cup 2023 fixtures
The stadium will host its first match on Friday 21 July, which will see the Philippines take on Switzerland in the group stages.
The Netherlands take on Portugal on 23 July at 19:00 in what will undoubtedly be a thrilling game. Japan take on Costa Rica the following week on 26 July, followed by Argentina vs South Africa on Friday 28 July.
The home nation team New Zealand play Switzerland n 30 July and Tuesday 1 August will see Vietnam face the Netherlands.
