    2023 Women’s World Cup: The Stadiums – Wellington Regional Stadium

    New Zealand’s Wellington Regional Stadium (Sky Stadium) is seen as the home of the country’s football in the modern era, after being brought to life on a waterfront site in the heart of the city in 2000. 

    Nine 2023 World Cup games will be played at Wellington Regional Stadium this summer, including the host nation New Zealand’s clash with the Philippines.

    Where is Wellington Regional Stadium? 

    Located on Waterloo Quay, the stadium is a short walk from the central business district of Wellington. Head to the Wellington Railway Station. Once there, join the elevated walkway that takes you directly to the Stadium entrance

    FIFA World Cup 2023 fixtures

    Wellington Regional Stadium will host nine games during the World Cup 2023. Spain vs Costa Rica is the first match to be played at the stadium on 21 July, followed by Sweden vs South Africa two days later.

    The co-hosts of the tournament NZ take on the Philippines on 25 July, followed by one of the most anticipated games – USA vs Netherlands just two days later. 

    Sweden vs Italy and Japan vs Spain close out July’s games. Into August, the stadium South Africa will take on Italy, followed by one Round of 16 games and finally, the stadium will host a quarter-final match on 11 August. 

    Whichever side tops Group C will face the runners-up of Group A at the ground, with a quarter-final set to follow on 11 August to bring the curtain down the stadium’s tournament.

    Record attendance: 39,000 – All Blacks v British and Irish Lions (rugby union) 2 July, 2005

    General Information:

    Wellington Regional Stadium is a cashless venue therefore spectators purchasing food and beverage options, as well as merchandise, can do so using card payments only.

    The main merchandise store will be located in the stadium, just inside the main gates

    Public Gates open two (2) hours prior to kick off for all games at Wellington Regional Stadium.

    We encourage you to arrive early to enjoy the entertainment and for smooth entry into your seat.
