It’s not every day your partner throws an intruder out of a window, but Katherine Ryan’s other half Bobby Koostra did just that after their home was broken into while they were in.
The comedian, 39, was left terrified after a masked man snuck into her property in October 2019 not long after her childhood sweetheart had moved in to live with her.
Opening up about the chilling ordeal in her brand new Sky comedy special Missus, Katherine shared details of the events that ended with Bobby chasing the burglar on foot while topless.
Recalling the dramatic moment, Katherine began: ‘Bobby and I were in the kitchen, I was enjoying a glass of wine and he was making a bolognaise one early evening.’
A commotion then ensued when Bobby went upstairs to go and change after spilling sauce on his top.

‘I remained in the kitchen enjoying my wine,’ Katherine said. ‘All of a sudden, above me in the bedroom I heard banging and crashing. I was not alarmed. He was probably chasing the cat around trying to knock the hamster out her mouth, standard in our house.’
But all was not as it seemed. ‘The banging continued and intensified and then I heard a voice say “I’m going to f*cking kill you” and I thought the cat’s changed!’ Katherine joked.
‘So then in a cold panic, no shoes on and wine in hand, I glided toward my front door very quietly and carefully and positioned myself there in case I needed to make a quick getaway.’
A few moments later, Bobby came flying down the stairs without a shirt and straight out of the front door.
‘So, I follow him out the door trying not to spill my wine,’ Katherine continued. ‘I’m chasing him down the drive, he doesn’t even look back.

‘Luckily, I had my mobile phone in my pocket. Took it out and called 999. They put me on hold for a minute and 42 seconds and when they put me back on the line, I was hysterical and launched into the most left-wing rant of my career.’
However, Katherine became distracted on her call to the emergency services after seeing Bobby emerge, wrestling the intruder on the street.
It wasn’t long before she finally made sense of what had actually happened that night.

‘When Bobby went upstairs to change, he and a burglar surprised each other,’ she explained. ‘They had a fight. Bobby decided to overpower him and chuck him out our first-floor window, which you’re not allowed to do, by the way.
‘So, he chucks him out of the window, luckily this guy was unharmed and he ran away and Bobby watched which way he went, so when he came down the stairs, he wasn’t running away from the intruder he was running in pursuit of the intruder.’
A round of applause for Bobby, please!
Katherine Ryan: Missus is available to stream on Sky Comedy and Now.
