Elsewhere in the village, Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) and Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Thomas) are utterly appalled to learn that Amit (Anil Goutam) attacked Nicky Milligan (Lewis Cope).
The bigger shock comes later, however, when they start to suspect that the unprovoked attack was carried out because of his sexuality. Unwilling to accept such behaviour, Jai and Laurel cut the newcomer out of their lives.

Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles), meanwhile, is keeping a big secret as she receives a series of mysterious phone calls.
