    The Daily Mail focuses on one of the long-term effects of the pandemic, describing a “devastating toll” of lockdown on hip and knee patients, some of whom the paper says may have to wait two years for an operation.

    Britain’s on a Bank Holiday bender: Revellers make the most of the long weekend 

    The Mail Online says Party-goers were spotted out in force across the country taking advantage of the last night of the Bank Holiday weekend with the added bonus of some hotly anticipated sunshine.  

    Revellers were seen celebrating the end of some lockdown restrictions meaning they were able to meet up with friends in bars since rules were relaxed on May 17. 

    Covid-19 cases rise by 40% per cent to 3,240 due to Indian variant but deaths remain flat at six, as 537,000 more people are vaccinated

    The Mail Online says daily coronavirus cases have risen by nearly 40 per cent in a week to 3,240 while deaths remain flat at just six as 537,000 more vaccinations were carried out in England on Saturday.

    It comes as ministers prepare contingency plans to extend restrictions beyond June 21, amid fears that a surge in cases of the Indian variant could lead to a spike in hospital admissions and deaths.
