Nasser Yassin, the minister coordinating Lebanon’s crisis response, told the Reuters news agency that about 1 million people in Lebanon displaced by Israel, including hundreds of thousands forced to flee their homes since Friday.

As we reported earlier, heavy Israeli bombardment have forced many families to flee the densely populated neighbourhood of Dahiyeh, in southern Beirut, since Friday.

What’s happened in Lebanon and Gaza over the last few hours

Over the last few hours, there have been multiple strikes on Choueifat, which is a neighbourhood very close to the airport here in Beirut.

Those come after at least five strikes across the country in Baalbek in the Bekaa and two in the southern city of Tyre.

Headache for Netanyahu because they fight back

Hezbollah are causing a headache for Netanyahu because they fight back. Hezbollah announced it carried out eight attacks today, including the rocket attacks that caused the air raid alarms to go off in occupied East Jerusalem.

And the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, as they are called, they fired drones at Eilat. There’s been no word from the Israeli military on that strike.

Netanyahu is fighting for survival at home

Israeli Prime MInister Benjamin Netanyahu is fighting a growing resistance at home in Israel. The frequency of the retaliatory attacks on Israel is something the Israeli population are not used to.

Whilst bombing Palestine over the last year, the Israelis population were rarely troubled by air raid alarms, and when the sirens did go off the iron dome intercepted the missiles.

But now, sirens are going off every day in Israel, and missiles are landing, with Israelis being hurt, injured and displaced. This was not part of the of the Netanyahu plan, and will not be acceptable by Israeli standards.

The Israeli population have been ‘sold the dream’ of living in opulence and luxury in occupied territory. They are not prepared or willing to live in a war zone.

There has been protests in Israel to end the war in Palestine and bring the hostages home. Unless Netanyahu shows something resembling victory he will face a winter of discontent in Israel.

He is fighting for his political survival, and desperately needs to shift the focus from the hostages he has not returned in Gaza.

That is why he is gauding Iran, he needs Iran to join this war, without that he is likely to lose his support in the West, who have become fed up with his u-turns and refusals for peace talks.

What’s happened in Lebanon and Gaza over the last few hours

    • Thirty-three people were killed and 195 wounded in Israeli air strikes on Lebanon on Saturday, the Lebanese Health Ministry says.
    • In Palestine, the Health Ministry says at least 52 people have been killed and 118 wounded in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
    • Lebanon has declared three days of mourning after Hezbollah confirmed its longtime leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli air strike in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
    • The Houthis military spokesperson says the group launched an attack on Israel’s Ben Gurion airport during Netanyahu’s arrival from the US.
    • World leaders called out the genocide at the UN in New York.
