PRINCESS DIANA REMEMBERED - Diana Statue
Statue of Princess Diana
On Thursday, July 1 2021, Prince William and Prince Harry will mark what would have been their mother’s 60th birthday with a statue being placed at her former home of Kensington Palace.
Princess Diana would have turned 60 today, but her life was cut short in a tunnel in Paris on August 31, 1997, after being chased by paparazzi. Diana was 36 years old. Her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry were 15 and 12, respectively when their mother died.
Diana still holds a place in the heart of Britain’s public and on the world’s stage. She is remembered and credited for her charity work, her fashion and her legacy of having forever changed the monarchy.
We look back on some of Diana’s most iconic moments caught on camera. Her life, her legacy and her tragic death.
DIANA OUR MUM
“We felt, you know, incredibly loved, Harry and I, and I’m very grateful that that love still – still feels there, even 20 years on. And I think that’s a huge credit to her that I – I can still feel that now” –
Prince William
“She was one of the naughtiest parents. She would come and watch us play football and, you know, smuggle sweets into our socks” –
Prince Harry
