Matt Hancock has only just come face-to-face with his I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmates and already he’s been confronted over his decision to sign up.
After squealing in during his first Bushtucker Trial, the former health secretary finally arrived in the jungle along with comedian Seann Walsh in scenes that aired on Wednesday night.
Naturally, Mr Hancock’s grand entrance sent shockwaves across the group and it wasn’t long before he was put in the hot seat.
Singer Boy George couldn’t hide his feelings and laughed at the politician as he warned: ‘You’re really going to get it. You’re really going to get it. Not from me. I mean just from…’
TV presenter Scarlette Douglas then jumped in, wasting no time in asking Mr Hancock why he chose to take part.

Matt replied: ‘Why? Because all politicians are known – and me in particular – for being in a very sort of strict way of being. Which is just not actually how we are.’
‘How would you say you were?’ Scarlette pressed, to which Mr Hancock answered: ‘More human than that.’
Coronation Street actress remarked: ‘You’re a brave man.’

‘Well, we’ll see how it goes,’ he replied, with Scarlette admitting: ‘I’m looking forward to getting to know you outside of everything else. That’s going to be good. Just be your authentic self.’
Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, she added: ‘To be fair, everyone’s human. We all have our own personalities outside what we are seen in the media.

‘So listen, Matt Hancock has come on, he obviously has something to prove, so hey, everyone’s got their own reasons as to why they’re here.’
Surely it’s just a matter of time before Mr Hancock’s fellow campmates question him on his handling of the pandemic…
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues on Thursday at 9pm on ITV.
