Most of us will experience some form of back pain in our lives.

Often it can come from a strain or injury and with time the pain tends to ease. But back pain can also be caused by bad posture, for example, sitting slouched at your desk all day (something most of us have been guilty of!).

If you don’t correct your posture there’s a risk you’ll develop long-term chronic problems that’ll be harder to fix. Prevention is always better than cure.

Thankfully there are a number of handy gadgets on the market to give you a helping hand, with these posture correctors catching our eye.

Created with the help of physiotherapists and osteopaths (and tried and tested by the Metro crew, too), the Percko correctors use elasticated tensor technology to keep your posture in a healthy position.

This means it subtly reminds you of your body position when your muscles are straining, which can happen subconsciously when you’re cleaning, lifting, doing odd jobs around the house or, you know, just sitting at a desk.

Over time your body should relearn to regularly mobilise itself without you consciously having to think about it.

The correctors, which come in three styles, are registered medical devices after being heavily researched, tested by experts, and validated by scientific literature.

They’ve had a load of positive reviews online, with many claiming their back pain has gone since they started using them.

    How does the jacket work?

This nifty jacket is equipped with a system of elasticated tensors that will guide the wearer to a healthier posture.

If the muscles are put under stress, the jacket will provide a counteraction so that the wearer can correct their posture. In the long run, these little adjustments will have a big impact.

Developed in France, the Percko Lyne HOME Jacket is made of polyamide and elastane and from OEKO-TEX® certified recycled European materials. It’s available in seven sizes, from XS to XXXL.

One person on Trust Pilot wrote: ‘Percko basically saved my life. After a triple hernia, their Lyne Up relieved a huge part of my pain where nothing else had helped me.’

Another said: ‘Great support for your back, I wear it on all my working days or sport days and my back feels so much better!’

One of our team, Mel, tried out the Lyne UP, the company’s bestselling vest, and was impressed by the results.

In her review, she described the vest as ‘a cross between a chesty singlet and massage tape, with two straps of elastic running over the shoulders and criss-crossing over the back to then come back around to the front to be fastened with clips’.

Wearing the jacket ‘felt secure enough that I could sense my shoulders were pulling backwards and my body was being encouraged to sit up straight, but not so restrictive that it was distracting or painful.’

And after just three days of use, her back pain was drastically diminished.
