The front page of The i newspaper reports on businesses fearing the Government’s energy support package will not be enough this winter, while heavy industries threaten to leave the UK as gas and electricity bills soar.
The paper also features an image of queues waiting to see the Queen lying in state – saying the latest figures are predicting more than 100,000 people will file past her coffin as she lies in state ahead of her state funeral on Monday 19 September.

The paper dedicates its entire front page to the Prince and Princess of Wales as they met crowds and read tributes at the Queen’s Norfolk home at Sandringham House on Thursday. Prince William gave a heartfelt admission that walking behind the Queen’s coffin on Wednesday brought back childhood memories of the funeral of his own mother, Princess Diana, who died when he was only 15.

The Daily Express leads with Prince William’s words about his grandmother, the Queen. “The Queen was like everyone’s grandmother” he told well-wishers as he opened up to another about how hard Wednesday’s procession was – it reminded him of walking behind his mother’s coffin when he was just 15.

Harry will be allowed to wear his military uniform for a vigil at the Queen’s coffin, The Sun reports. It comes after the Duke of Sussex had to wear a suit for Wednesday’s ceremonial procession after he lost his military titles when he stepped down as a senior royal in 2020.
