The US has the highest number of infections with over 560, 000 cases and 22,000 deaths. New York state alone has more cases than any country.

Coronavirus updates: Global cases top 1.85m

CNN says the novel coronavirus has infected more than 1.85 million people and killed at least 114,000 worldwide, according to Johns Hopkins University. 

The US remains the worst afflicted country with at least 557,000 cases and more than 22,000 Covid-19 deaths. New York state alone has more cases than any country.

UK enters fourth week of lockdown ahead of review

BBC News reports the UK is facing its fourth week in lockdown, with the government set to review by Thursday whether social distancing measures can be changed. 

Ministers are required by law to assess whether the rules are working based on expert advice, after three weeks of being told to stat at home. On Sunday, the UK’s total number of hospital deaths reached 10,612.

France24 reports after initial delays, France has finally accepted the World Health Organisation’s directive to conduct mass testing to fight the coronavirus. But with equipment shortages and questions over the reliability of some tests, it’s proving hard to implement. 

All eyes are now set on Emmanuel Macron’s Monday night speech on the crisis, French people are wondering if their president will address this critical issue.

Spain lifts lockdown on non-essential workers amid harsh debate & fears of a new wave of Covid-19 cases

RT News says staff in food distribution, communications, sanitation and other non-essential sectors are now allowed to go to work in Spain despite the country’s status as the world’s second-largest Covid-19 hotspot with over 17,000 deaths. 

These workers will be able to return to work on Monday following a 14-day self-isolation regime that saw all industries – except healthcare and food – shut down across all of Spain. Back in late March, the “non-essential” staff were sent on paid leave following a decision by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

Six people shot at a California house party during lockdown

BBC News says California police say six people have been shot at a “large” house party despite the “stay at home” order in place in the US state. The shooting happened on Friday night in Bakersfield. The victims – four women, one man and a girl – were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

OPEC+ oil producers to cut output by 9.7m barrels

Arab News says big oil producers led by Saudi Arabia and Russia agreed on Sunday to cut output by 9.7 million barrels a day as energy markets grapple with the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. The biggest oil deal in history was clinched after three days of hard bargaining.
