No, Oprah Winfrey wasn’t arrested for sex trafficking

No Oprah didnt get arrested for sex trafficking

No, Oprah was not arrested for sex trafficking. Barely a few days into global lockdown and everyone appears to have lost their minds.

The bizarre – and completely untrue – posts about Winfrey appeared late Tuesday night on Twitter.

Blame it on Coronavirus-isolation cabin fever but the internet is keeping itself entertained by the rumour. The media mogul took to Twitter on Tuesday, saying the rumour was “an awful FAKE thing” and “NOT TRUE”.

The conspiracy theory about Oprah being raided and arrested for sex trafficking sprung up from nowhere. And quickly became a worldwide trend.

The original claim was that disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein received a 23-year sentence for rape and assault instead of 55 years due to blowing the whistle on the supposed trafficking activities of not just Oprah but also Tom Hanks (currently recovering from the coronavirus), Steven Spielberg, Ellen DeGeneres and politicians Bill Clinton and Joe Biden.

The MailOnline reports the claim is linked to the QAnon, a conspiracy theory which claims there is a “deep state” working against President Trump

But Oprah can console herself, knowing most people didn’t believe the rumour

Social distancing is being practised around the world right now, avoiding contact with people and staying at home. The new measures are being practised due to the coronavirus outbreak. The global death toll has now soared over 8,000 people.
