India restores internet in Kashmir after 7 months of blackout

Aljazeera News says authorities in India have temporarily revoked a ban on social media sites and given back full india restores kashmir's internetinternet access in Indian-administered Kashmir for two weeks. It has ended an almost seven-month internet blackout, after New Dehli stripped the Muslim-majority region its statehood and semi-autonomy. 

Internet access on mobile phones will remain restricted to slow speed. 

The restoration of the internet will remain in effect until March 17, a government order said. It gave no explanation of the time limit. A recent Supreme Court order had said the internet ban could not be indefinite.

South Korea announces $9.8bn in emergency funding to fight coronavirus

Arab News says South Korea on Wednesday earmarked $9.8 billion to fight the coronavirus outbreak as the number of infections soared to 5,621, hitting the country’s economy hard. South Korea announces 9.8b emergency coronavirus funding

Authorities reported 293 new cases on Wednesday alone and the death toll from the virus hitting 34.

Nearly 90 per cent of the COVID-19 infections were diagnosed in the southeastern city of Daegu and nearby towns.

And the number of confirmed cases in the east Asian nation was expected to rise even more with the country’s Ministry of Health and Welfare awaiting the test results of 28,000 people.

Collapsed Flybe tells passengers not to travel to the airport

BBC News says UK airline Flybe has gone into administration, putting 2,000 jobs at risk, after a bid for fresh financial support failed. flybe in administration

The impact of the coronavirus outbreak is in part to blame said the carrier. 

Its website tells customers to “not travel to the airport” unless they have an alternative flight. 

In a letter to the airline’s staff, chief executive Mark Anderson said: “Despite every effort, we now have no alternative – having failed to find a feasible solution to allow us to keep trading. 

“I am very sorry that we have not been able to secure the funding needed to continue to deliver our turnaround,” he added.

Some 300 million students out of school as the world steps up coronavirus battle

France24 says more than 290 million students worldwide are facing weeks at home on Thursday with Italy the latest country to shut schools over the deadly new virus, as IMF urged an all-out, global offensive against the epidemic. school closures over coronavirus

More than 95,000 people have been infected and over 3,200 have died worldwide from the virus which has now reached some 80 countries and territories. 

As the virus spreads, temporary measures have been implemented – including 13 countries have closed schools, affecting 290.5 million children, while nine others have implemented localised closures.

Sky News says Katy Perry has revealed she is pregnant. The US singer showed off a baby bump at the end of the musicKaty perry pregnant video for her new single – Never Worn White.

This will be her first child with fiance Orlando Bloom, who she has been dating since 2016. The pair got engaged on Valentine’s Day last year.
