“Two elderly people have died due to coronavirus in the city of Qom, south of Tehran,” Alireza Vahabzadeh, an adviser to Iran’s health minister, told Al Jazeera on Wednesday.

“The two victims had suffered acute lung infections due to their infection with the coronavirus,” he added.

At least 8 killed in shootings in western German city of Hanau

France24 says at least eight people were killed in a drive-by shooting at two shisha bars late on Wednesday in the German city of Hanau, according to local media.

A further five other people are believed to be seriously injured in the attacks in the Kesselstadt district of the city, which is east of Frankfurt. 

The first shooting occurred at the “Midnight” bar in the centre of the city around 10 pm police and reports said. 

The attacker, or attackers, then fled the scene by car, said the police. There was a second shooting at Arena Bar.

Storm Dennis: UK set for a month’s worth of rain in 24 hours amid floods
