In today’s briefing update, Indian troops have killed three Kashmiri militants in a counterinsurgency operation. The deaths have reportedly wiped out the militant group.

The Kurdish military chief has thanked Russia as they welcome Russian peacekeeping patrols. The peacekeepers will patrol the border alongside Syrian troops and Russian military police.

Over in Chile, the president’s apology has failed to quell the anger amid growing violence. The death toll is reported to be at least 18.

In the UK, police are continuing to question the Essex lorry driver. He was found to be driving a refrigerated lorry with 39 bodies- including one teenager.

A man is set to appear in court charged with the attempted murder of a female police officer. The 35-year-old allegedly tried to stab the officer after she tried to stop him fleeing a south London address.

Finally, we catch up on Brexit. The Prime Minister is facing a growing revolt over his threats to hold a general election before delivering Brexit. The PM is said to be privately “torn.”

INDIAN TROOPS KILL 3 SENIOR KASHMIRI MILITANTS

Arab News reports Indian forces have killed a top militant commander and two of his associates. The deaths Indian troops kill 3 senior Kashmiri militantscame in a counterinsurgency operation in Indian-controlled Kashmir

The gunfire erupted in the southern Awantipora area on Tuesday evening. The top militant Hamid Lelhari became the operations chief of an affiliate of the Al-Qaeda militant group.

Police chief Dilbagh Singh said the group has been wiped out in Kashmir with Tuesday’s killings. And said Indian forces suffered no casualties or injuries.

‘THANKS, RUSSIA!’ KURDISH MILITARY CHIEF WELCOMES RUSSIAN PEACEKEEPING PATROLS

RT News says speaking with the Russian Defense Minister, SDF chief Mazloum Abdi thanked Moscow for securing a ‘Thanks, Russia!’ Kurdish military chief welcomes Russian peacekeeping patrolsdeal with Turkey and said the Kurdish militia will support Syrian troops and Russian military police patrolling the border. 

Talks between the top Russian military officials and the SDF commander-in-chief were held on Wednesday via video link. Abdi discussed the ongoing developments in northeastern Syria. And Shoigu and Russia’s Chief of General Staff Valery expressed full support to the deployment of Russian military police and Syrian Army units into the region.

CHILE PROTESTS: PRESIDENTIAL APOLOGY FAILS TO QUELL ANGER AS DEATH TOLL RISES TO 18

CNN says protesters and police clashed once again in the Chilean capital on Wednesday. It came after President Pinera Chile protests: Presidential apology fails to quell anger as death toll rises to 18failed to temper escalating levels of violence with an apology. The violence has led to at least 18 deaths. 

Crowds swelled in downtown Santiago for a sixth straight day, amid calls by trade union organisations for a general strike. Police responded by firing tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannons at protesters during sustained pitched battles. The battles are paralysing large parts of the country’s biggest city.

ESSEX LORRY DEATHS: POLICE CONTINUE TO QUESTION LORRY DRIVER

BBC News says police are continuing to question a man after 39 bodies were discovered in a refrigerated lorry trailer in Essex lorry deaths: Police continue to question lorry driverEssex. The lorry driver, named locally as Mo Robinson, 25 is from Portadown County Armagh. And was arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday. 

39 bodies including one teenager were found in the lorry container which had arrived in Purfleet on the River Thames from Zeebrugge, Belgium. And the suspect remains in Essex Police custody for questioning.

CLAPHAM STABBING: MAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER FOLLOWING AN ATTACK ON A FEMALE OFFICER IN LONDON

The Independent reports Julian Peters, 35, will appear in court charged with attempted murder. He allegedly tried to stabClapham stabbing: Man charged with attempted murder following an attack on a female officer in London a female police officer. And was arrested after police were called to reports of a disturbance involving a man making threats in southwest London

It is claimed that as the officer went to prevent the suspect from fleeing the scene he tried to stab her at least twice in the stomach. He is due to appear in court on Thursday charged with attempted murder and making threats to kill. Along with one count of points and blades.

BORIS JOHNSON FACES GROWING TORY REVOLT OVER THREAT TO HOLD GENERAL ELECTION BEFORE BREXIT

The Sun says the prime minister faces a growing revolt from the cabinet and backbench Tory MPs over his threat to Boris Johnson faces growing Tory revolt over threat to hold General Election before Brexithold a general election before Brexit.
