JOHNSON ‘USING QUEEN’ FOR PRE-ELECTION TORY BROADCAST, SAYS CORBYN
The Independent says Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is set to accuse Boris Johnson of “using the Queen” for a pre-election Tory party broadcast just weeks ahead of a potential general election. In a keynote speech, Corbyn will also insist he is “champing at the bit” for an early election. And will support a Commons vote on one once a no-deal Brexit has been avoided. On Monday the Queen will deliver a speech in the House of Lords setting out the PM’s priorities. Corbyn said: “holding a Queen’s Speech before an election is a cynical stunt. Johnson is using the Queen to deliver a pre-election party political broadcast for the Conservative party.”

BORIS JOHNSON’S FATHER PRAISES EXTINCTION REBELLION ‘CRUSTIES’ AS ARRESTS HIT 800
The Guardian says Boris Johnson’s father has told a crowd at Extinction Rebellion’s London demonstrations he backs their methods and is proud to call himself an “uncooperative crusty.” Stanley Johson was asked about his son’s comments on the protesters. The PM had called the environmental protesters “uncooperative crusties” in “heavy hemp bivouacs.” Stanley Johnson, speaking on a stage set up by protesters said: “On the point of non-cooperative crusties, I wear that badge with pride. It’s one of the nicest things that has been said about me for a long time. A non-cooperative crusty, absolutely superb – do they taste good? That’s my thought, I think they do.” On Wednesday, police confirmed 800 arrests had been made over the past two days.

IT HAPPENS: TRUMP DEFENDS US DIPLOMAT’S WIFE WHO FLED UK AFTER FATAL CRASH
The Sun reports Donald Trump has defended a US diplomat’s wife who fled the UK after allegedly killing Harry Dunn, 19 in a hit-and-run. He has vowed to ‘see what we can do’ to arrange a meeting with the heartbroken family. Trump’s pledge came after Boris Johnson urged the US President to return Anna Sacoolas to Britain so she can “cooperate with police.” The President said most Americans feel the same way as Brits and believe Sacoolas should be stripped of diplomatic immunity. “I was telling Boris, we have a lot of Americans that, you know, you have two wonderful parents who lost their son and the woman was driving on the wrong side of the road. And that can happen. You know those are the opposite roads – that happens. I won’t say it ever happened to me but it did.”
