PHOTOJOURNALIST SHOT OUTSIDE HAITIAN SENATE

CNN says a Haitian senator appeared to open fire amid chaotic scenes outside the country’s Parliament building in the Photojournalist shot outside Haitian senatecapital, Port-au-Prince. Images show Senator Ralph Fethiere getting out of his vehicle and pointing a handgun in the air. An Associated Press photographer was wounded during the commotion. Footage showed the photographer holding a bandage to his face from an apparent gunshot. The chaos follows recent protests over fuel and food shortages. And power blackouts and rising fuel prices have sparked public anger against the government.

US HOUSE SPEAKER PELOSI LAUNCHES FORMAL IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY AGAINST TRUMP

France 24 says House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced that the House is moving forward with an official US House Speaker Pelosi launches formal impeachment inquiry against Trump impeachment inquiry against US President Donald Trump. The inquiry centres on whether Trump abused his presidential powers and sought help from a foreign government for his re-election. Pelosi said such actions would mark a “betrayal of his oath of office” and declared: “No one is above the law.” To the news, Trump who was meeting with world leaders at the United Nations said in an all-caps tweet: “PRESIDENTIAL HARRASSMENT!.”

US LEADS CONDEMNATION OF CHINA FOR ‘HORRIFIC’ REPRESSION OF MUSLIMS

Arab News says the US has led more than 30 countries on Tuesday in condemning China’s “horrific campaign of US leads condemnation of China for ‘horrific’ repression of Muslims repression” against Muslims.  In highlighting abuses against ethnic Uighurs and other Muslims in China, Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan said the UN and its member states have “a singular responsibility to speak up when survivor after survivor recounts the horrors of state repression.” He said it was incumbent on UN member states to ensure the world body was able to closely monitor human rights abuses by China. And added that it must seek “immediate, unhindered, and unmonitored” access to Xinjiang for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
