TALIBAN SUICIDE ATTACK KILLS AT LEAST 48 BEFORE AFGHAN ELECTIONS

Aljazeera reports at least 48 people have been killed and many more injured in two separate attacks in Afghanistan. Taliban suicide attack kills at least 48 before Afghan electionsOne of the attacks was at a campaign rally by President Ashraf Ghani and the other in the capital, Kabul. In the first blast, a suicide bomber on a motorcycle targeted the rally by Ghani. The bomber rammed his explosive-laden motorcycle into the entrance of the venue that hosted the President’s rally. Just hours later in Kabul, another explosion went off, claiming at least 26 lives. The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack and said it was a suicide attack.

INDONESIA RAISES MINIMUM AGE FOR MARRIAGE TO CURB CHILD BRIDES

CNN reports Indonesia has raised the minimum age a woman can marry to 19. Indonesia’s parliament reached a Indonesia raises minimum age for marriage to curb child bridesunanimous agreement on the revision of the country’s current law and the ruling is expected to curb child marriage in the country. Current laws allow girls to marry at 16 and boys at 19. But parents can also ask religious courts or local officials to authorise marriages of younger girls.
